9th Donegal Muff Scout Group
The 9th Donegal Muff Scout Group was founded in February 1999. The Beaver Colony opened at this time and in September 1999 the Cub Pack was started. The following year, in September 2000, our Scout Troop was formed and September 2005 seen our Venture Troop take shape.
Current membership consists of 18 Beavers, 24 Cubs, 24 Scouts, 15 Ventures and 23 Adult Leaders.
Since opening we have had 38 Scouts achieve their Chief Scout Awards and 1 Scout presented with a Bravery Award for having continued in scouting throughout treatment for leukaemia. He also achieved his Chief Scout Award during this time. In our Cub Section 13 Cubs have obtained their Cubs Chief Scout Award.
In 2004 five of our Chief Scouts were invited to Phoenix Park to meet with President Mc Aleese.
In 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 we won the County Errigal Cup. In 2003 and 2012 we came runner up in Errigal Cup. Every year to date we have qualified for the All Ireland Smythe/Phoenix competitions. In 2003 we came 2nd in the Smythe Cup competition, which was held in Lough Dan - a fantastic surprise for all of us.
In 2007 we had two teams from Muff representing our County in the All Ireland Phoenix Challenge.
One Scout has attended the PEAK week and one Venture has attended the Explorer Belt. This was a first for Errigal County.
In 2009 the cub section won the Errigal County Quiz and in 2010 they won the shield at Errigal County Camp.
In the past the Beaver Section represented Errigal County in the All Ireland Beaver Quiz. Also in 2011 the Beaver Colony came in the top 3 at the Errigal County Quiz.
Just recently the Beaver section took part in their first major hill walking expedition and they did brilliant.
For Summer Camps the Scout and Venture Section have been to Scotland, Holland, Canada, Andorra, North Yorkshire, Crawfordsburn, The Share Centre, Punchestown, Carrowmena and this year again to Holland. We also hosted summer camp in Ireland for our Canadian Scout Group partners.
Our Venture Group also fundraised to provide an orphanage in Romania with a play park. Just over €13000 was raised and our Venture group went out to Romania in 2010 to finish off work on the play park and visit other orphanages and supplied them with provisions.

In 2011, with support from Derry Rotary, they purchased 12 Trampolines and went back to Romania to erect them in various Orphanages and Special Needs Homes.
The Ventures were also involved with iCare in Buncrana and helped with the organisation of their open day in 2011.
