Muff Community Park Tree-Planting Ceremony

The pupils of Mrs Smith's 6th class in Scoil Naomh Bríd, Muff were recently invited to attend a tree planting ceremony at Muff Community Park. The children were joined by Muff Community Development Chairman, Bernard Breslin, Vice-Chair Bridget McCallion, Committee member Willie Doherty and Inishowen Environmental Group's Dessie Mc Callion.

The 6th class students were chosen because they would soon be leaving for secondary level education and this invitaion was seen to be their crossing into young adulthood. The trees, some of which were kindly donated by Cycle Inishowen as part of their carbon-footprint eliminating campaign, included Beach, Alder, Oak, Aspen, Rowan and have been labelled so the children can monitor progress in the future years.

Back 2 Back Fundraiser

As part of Muff Community Park’s fundraising efforts, local men Tommy Doherty and Joe O’ Donnell generously volunteered their services and organised a ‘Back 2 Back’ musical variety competition for the park completion fund. The event took place at The Rock Bar, Sappagh on Friday 29th November and for the night was home to a host of musical talent from across the area. As the night progressed, a raffle took place which saw the donated funds rise to €360 and help Muff Community Park creep closer to completion. The deserving winners on the night were Tully’s Bar, Carndonagh who proudly walked off with the O’ Doherty Community Park Cup. Guest Tea Fundraiser

Muff Community Development held a ‘Guest Tea’ fundraiser in aid of Muff Community Park on Friday 15th November 2013. The event took place in St. Mary’s Community Hall, Muff and saw many of the local groups, who are members of Muff Community Development, along with individuals, host a table for their friends and colleagues at a night of food, fun and entertainment.

St. Mary’s Community Hall was transformed into a cosy, relaxed dining area by the attendees’ culinary spreads and with Autumnal centerpieces on every table. The delicious food and drink was savored by all and led the way for the evening’s entertainment to begin.

The audience applauded as Tommy Doherty, Joe O’ Donnell, Liam Atcheson and Karl Mc Carron took to the stage and provided toe-tapping tunes. Later in the evening the crowd was treated to special guests who performed such as; Sue Lynch, Sean Wade, John Keys, Clare McColgan and Golly G with help from Finn harps Fan, Oisin Mac Lochlainn.

As the night drew to a close, the Muff Community Development treasurers announced that with the contributions from those who hosted tables on the night, along with proceeds from the night’s raffle, a fantastic €700 was raised which helps Muff Community Park creep closer to completion.

The committee and staff of Muff Community Development would like to offer a huge thanks to all those who participated on the night, donated prizes and supported Muff Community Park.

Halloween Spooky Park Fundraiser 2013

On Halloween evening, October 31st 2013, the newly opened play park in Ardmore Muff was transformed into a Spooky Park to raise much needed funds for Muff Community Park.

The evening kicked off at 4pm and thankfully the rainclouds kept at bay for the entirety of the event, with grownups and children eagerly waiting to venture into the unknown from the get-go.

Kids were entertained with traditional Halloween games such as bobbing for apples and testing their skill at taking bites out of hanging apples, pass the pumpkin pail, goblins were tackled by feeding them pumpkins in a game of throw, with the braver plunging their hands into unknown goo for a lucky dip.

Tea and coffee was on offer along with delicious hot soup to warm the bones, and ghoulish treats available in the tuck shop.

As the evening grew darker and the children played louder, the adults donated generously to the invaluable asset that is the children’s play park.

Eventually the Spooky Park fundraiser came to a close with those in attendance leaving entertained and satisfied for contributing to the Muff Community Park fund.

Many thanks to Muff Community Development for working hard and hosting the event, to the volunteers who helped out on the day, Muff Youth Club, St. Mary’s Brigini’s, Scoil Naomh Bríd and Quigley’s Point Community Playgroup for supplying handmade decorations and finally to those who came and supported the completion of Muff Community Park.

Website Launch Success

Friday 16th November 2012 marked another milestone in community development  for Muff and surrounds with the launch of a new community website - www.muffcommunityforum.ie by Muff Community Development Co-op (MCD)

The aim of the website, funded by Border Villages Social Intergration Project is to further strengthen the network of community organisations active in the Muff area. Muff Community Development was delighted to welcome representatives from the affiliated groups as well as members of the public to St. Mary’s Community Hall, Muff to be the first to view the new website. There was also an opportunity to view the potential Children’s Play Park designs, and to meet the ‘Muffometer’. The 'Muffometer' will record community contributions towards of target of €30,000 for the Community Park Development Fund. Raised to date is €12.500.

MCD were delighted to receive Play Park Equipment Sponsorship from the following generous donors:
